First Nation, Métis and Inuit students in Ontario will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to successfully complete their elementary and secondary education in order to pursue postsecondary education or training and/or to enter the workforce.
They will have the traditional and contemporary knowledge, skills and attitudes required to be socially contributive, politically active, and economically prosperous citizens of the world.
All students in Ontario will have knowledge and appreciation of contemporary and traditional First Nations, Métis and Inuit traditions, cultures and perspectives.”

Our Board is committed to improving its educational programs, services and resources in order to ensure that the unique strengths and needs of all students are met, including students with First Nation, Métis and Inuit ancestry.
In striving to offer the best education to our students of First Nation, Métis and Inuit ancestry, we encourage those who are of 18 years of age, and the parents/guardians of those students who are not yet 18, to self-identify. Self-identification is voluntary and confidential, by law.
Its purpose is to ensure that Indigenous students attending schools across the CDSBEO can be provided with all they need to be successful graduates.
As well, CDSBEO offers growing opportunities for students, teachers, and staff to learn about, understand, value and celebrate Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives.
Through our Self-Identification policy, Indigenous education programming, and partnerships with our Indigenous communities and organizations, our understanding of how to best support our First Nations, Métis and Inuit students continues to grow.
